Why choose our products

 

 

Anti-slip microfiber suede is a non-woven base, needled, impregnated, split to gauge and buffed to a fine nap. The grip is not a coating - it is the nap: thousands of angled fibres that bite against skin, sock or insock instead of sliding over a slick film. In a safety shoe it is used in three positions: collar and tongue facing, insock top cover, and a heel grip patch under the lining.

 

One point plainly. EN ISO 20345 certifies a finished shoe; the slip resistance inside it, tested to EN ISO 13287, belongs to the outsole. Suede is not the outsole. What it does is hold the foot steady so the sole can work, and meet the upper requirements the standard points to.

Feature & Application

 

1.Grip where the foot moves

Insock cover and collar are where a foot slides forward on a descent. Nap adds friction without a rubber feel, and it does not squeak against a sock.

2.Oil, not just water

Oil mist wicks into untreated suede and stays as a dark patch. A fluorine-free finish keeps the drop on the surface long enough to wipe.

3.EN ISO 20345 upper requirements

Suede uppers are tested for flexing, tear strength, pH and hydrolysis under EN ISO 20344 methods. We run these per order rather than quote a certificate for a material with no shoe attached to it.

4.Nap direction and panel shading

Suede changes tone with the light. Cut every piece one way and the boot reads as one colour; ignore it and quarters look darker than the vamp.

5.Cutting, stitching, toe cap

1.6 mm die-cuts cleanly in a stack of six. Needle marks stay in the nap; use a ball-point on visible seams. Over a steel cap, allow 0.2 mm clearance or the cap telegraphs through.

  • Does this suede make the finished shoe non-slip? No. Slip resistance is measured on the outsole to EN ISO 13287. This suede stops the foot sliding inside the boot.
