Spanish Leather Exports Exceed Pre-epidemic Levels

According to the latest report from Spanish customs, leather exports in the first quarter of 2022 are much higher than those before the COVID-19 epidemic. Among them, rawhide exports increased by 14.6% over the same period in 2021 to 40.3 million euros, semi-finished leather exports increased by 19.5% to 18.9 million euros, and finished leather exports increased by 34% to 100.4 million euros.
Italy, China, Portugal and Turkey are the main buyers of Spanish rawhide, accounting for 83% of the total exports; the main customers of semi-finished leather are Italy, France and Portugal, accounting for about 85%; Italy, France, Portugal and Germany account for 75% of finished leather exports.
According to official figures, leather export revenues increased by 49.9 million euros in the first three months of 2022 compared with the first quarter of 2019 before the outbreak.
