Seven Attention to Leather Maintenance

① The main component of cowhide, sheepskin, and pigskin is protein, so they are all prone to moisture, peeling, and insects. For this reason, when wearing leather clothing, avoid contact with oily, acidic, and alkaline substances.

②Leather is best worn frequently and wiped with a fine flannel. If you encounter rain, dampness or mildew, use a soft dry cloth to wipe off water stains or mildew spots. But don't rub it with water or gasoline, because the water-energy rubber leather becomes hard, and gasoline can volatilize the oil and crack the leather.

③If the leather is wrinkled, it can be ironed with a fan, and the temperature can be controlled between 60-70℃. When ironing, use a thin cotton cloth as a lining ironing cloth, and at the same time keep moving the iron.

④If the leather loses its luster, it can be polished with a leather polish. Don't wipe it with shoe polish. In fact, it is not difficult to polish the leather, just use a cloth dipped in polish and gently rub it on the leather-twice. Generally, it only needs to be lighted once every two or three years to keep the leather soft and luster and extend the service life.

⑤If the leather garment is torn or damaged, it should be repaired in time. If it is a small crack, apply a little egg white to the crack, and the crack can be glued.

⑥When the leather is not worn, it is best to connect it with a hanger; of course, it can be laid flat, but it should be placed on top of other clothes to avoid crushing and wrinkling, which will affect the appearance.

⑦Leather should be dried before storing, not exposed to the sun, just hang it in a cool and dry place with ventilation. In order to keep the leather beautiful in color for a long time, a layer of milk or glycerin can be applied to the leather surface before storage, so that it can be stored for a long time without discoloration.
