Microfiber Leather VS PU Leather

May 21, 2024

PU leather and microfiber leather (microfiber leather) are two common faux leather materials that differ significantly in terms of composition, performance and application.

Ingredients:

PU leather: Mainly made of polyurethane resin (PU), it has good wear resistance, acid and alkali resistance and easy to clean.
Microfiber leather: It is a high-grade synthetic leather composed of microfiber and polyurethane resin. The addition of microfiber makes the microfiber skin closer to the dermis in terms of microstructure, with better mechanical properties and air permeability.

Performance:

Durability: Microfiber leather has excellent abrasion resistance, aging resistance, breathability and flexibility, and is soft to the touch, similar to genuine leather. Although ordinary PU leather also has a certain durability, it is inferior to microfiber leather in these aspects.
Environmental protection: Microfiber leather has a better environmental protection effect due to the use of microfiber.
Price: The price of microfiber leather is usually higher than that of ordinary PU leather because of its higher production cost.

Applications:

Microfiber leather: Widely used in clothing, furniture, decoration, automotive interiors, shoe materials and other fields, because of its excellent performance and beautiful appearance, it is often used in high-end products.
PU leather: Due to its low cost, it is often used in daily necessities and economical products, such as some low-grade clothing and household items.

Tactile and Appearance:

Microfiber leather: It has a soft, smooth touch that mimics the porous three-dimensional grid-like structure of genuine leather, giving it a look and feel closer to that of genuine leather.
